Do you experience joint pain?
If the answer is yes, then escape pain could be for you!
In conjunction with Active for Health, Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) is going to be delivering Escape Pain sessions throughout the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
Escape pain is a self management programme for those who have had chronic hip or knee pain for three months or more. Commissioned by the Health Innovation Network, the Escape Pain project has typically been delivered in clinical settings, such as hospitals, but CACT and Active for Health have teamed up to deliver this programme in a variety of community settings.
Chronic joint pain and joint stiffness is one of the major symptoms of osteoarthritis. It can be tempting, if you have osteoarthritis, to stop all physical activity as it may cause you pain. The Escape Pain programme is an opportunity to help participants to understand and manage their condition better, and to create a safe exercise and self-management strategy that will help to reduce joint pain.
The programme is for those over the age of 55 who have experienced activity-related hip or knee pain for three months or more. Delivered in small groups twice a week for six weeks, the programme aims to alleviate the pain of participants through education and physical activity sessions.
