Auction winner makes Sparrow’s Lane trip for lunch with the skipper

Season ticket holder Tom Green visited Charlton Athletic’s Sparrow’s Lane training ground on Thursday, 13th October 2016 after winning an auction on EBay to visit the training facility to have lunch with Charlton’s management and observe a first team training session.

The auction was put on by Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) with proceeds going back to the charity for their work in the community.

With CAFC manager Russell Slade absent due to illness, assistant manager Kevin Nugent stepped in to show Tom a training session followed by a lunch with him and skipper Johnnie Jackson.

The experience was a birthday present bought by his parents, Neil and Elizabeth, who alongside Tom, have been season ticket holders at The Valley for 19 years.

Tom said, “I really enjoyed my trip to Sparrows Lane to see behind the scenes at Charlton. Everyone made me so welcome. It was a great birthday present.”

Charlton Athletic captain Johnnie Jackson said, “It was great to meet Tom and be part of his birthday celebrations. The whole team is grateful for his and his family’s support over the years so we were more than happy to have him come to the training ground.”

Look out for more auctions on other Charlton Athletic experiences and exclusive memorabilia, all in aid of CACT in the near future.
