Summer lunch club starts in Greenwich this week

To help families in Greenwich over the school holidays, the Trust’s health improvement strand is running free lunch clubs over the Summer break.

Alongside the Mayor’s Fund for London, the Trust is cooking healthy meals for children at the locations below, starting this week.

Anyone in the borough is welcome to attend, and there are also opportunities to volunteer at the clubs.

The Mayor’s Fund piloted this scheme in five community holiday clubs across Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets in 2014 and recorded a real improvement in the children’s wellbeing and attendance when they returned to school.

More than 95% of children said they enjoyed the meals and all the options were healthy.

The sessions take place at the following locations:

Hawksmoor Youth Centre, Tuesday 1pm-5pm

Woolwich Common Youth Centre Wednesday 4pm-7pm

Woolwich Common Youth Centre Thursday 2pm-5pm

Hawksmoor Youth Centre, Friday 1pm-5pm

For more information or if you would like to volunteer, please call Louise Foster at the Trust on 020 3697 0115.
