National Citizen Service (NCS) Assistant Team Leader

Salary: £480-£500 (Residential week) £11.05 per hour (local hub)

This Summer over 1,000 young people aged 15-17 will be taking part in the NCS programme run by Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) across South East London and Kent. NCS is a 2-week programme designed to help young people become more rounded individuals by building their confidence and developing life skills.

The programme consists of 3 phases over the two weeks of programme. Phase 1 Be Epic – young people will spend 2 days and 2 nights at a residential centre taking part in fun and adventurous activities which will vary each day. Phase 2 Live life – young people will spend a further 3 days and 2 nights at the residential centre where they will engage with workshops and skills boosting activities. After this, the participants will complete their final phase of the programme, Phase 3 Do Good. This is where they will spend 5 days planning and delivering a social action project of their design at a local hub within their community.

To help deliver this exciting programme, CACT is looking for enthusiastic and committed applicants to work in the role of Assistant Team Leader. Assistant Team Leaders will work alongside a Team Leader to help guide a team of 12-16 young people through their NCS experience.

In their role, Assistant Team Leaders will need to encourage, motivate and inspire their team to get the most out of their NCS experience. To do this, candidates will need to be confident and engaging as well as flexible and supportive.

NCS is an experience of a lifetime that has the potential to change a young person’s outlook and future. As an Assistant Team Leader, you will therefore get the chance to inspire the youth of today by acting as a positive role model. To help achieve this goal, CACT will provide training and support to help all successful candidates excel in their role.
