Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) is delighted to announce that its Up & At ‘Em project has been nominated for the Positive Practice in Mental Health Awards for the second year running.
Run in partnership with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, Up & At ‘Em is targeted at those aged 65+ with a mental health diagnosis. Up & At Em was Highly Commended at last year’s awards, and is an important part of the Early Help and Prevention strand’s work.
The varied set of activities includes sport, leisure, art and cultural, and is adapted as necessary to be age appropriate. At the start of every 10-week block, CACT and Oxleas hold a welcome session for all clients and their carers. This takes the pressure off clients and allows them to engage with each other at their own pace.
Feedback received from clients on the project showcases the impact it has on people’s lives. “I appreciate all the care and support shown to me”, said one participant, while another client “appreciated every minute”.
The awards take place on 11 October at Anfield, home of Liverpool FC.
