Charlton supporters are encouraged to celebrate what makes them proud of their football club on Saturday.
The day would have been the annual Pride in London Parade, and in each of the last two years the club has been represented by members of the Charlton family.
This year the walk is unable to take place and Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) has joined forces with the club and the club's LGBTQI+ supporters group to encourage fans to celebrate what gives them Pride in Charlton from their homes. Supporters can create their own videos and tag them in #PrideInCharlton on social media.
The first videos have started appearing on social media and other activities on the day include a pre-match Zoom call which is set to include some great guests. Those on the call will also have the chance to win Charlton-related prizes.
Dr Michael Seeraj, CACT & the club's Head of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, said:
"We've always had such great support from the Charlton fans and local community – we've had one of the biggest groups at the last two Pride in London Parades.
"This year, to ensure we continue, the virtual Pride in Charlton celebration will be a fantastic way for people to get involved."
Chairperson of the Proud Valiants, Rob Harris, said:
"Pride in the LGBTQI+ is not just a political event, where each person, whatever their situations can celebrate who they are. For many it is the one day of the year they feel safe.
"Unfortunately this year may mean we cannot be celebrating together in person – but believe me we will be celebrating remotely. We will be proud to be individual, proud of our LGBTQI+ history and proud of our club and CACT for their never wavering support. Happy Pride and be Charlton proud."
