Charlton Athletic Community Trust’s (CACT) Family Learning provision has helped dozens of families this season.
The Family Learning Provision is a free session held at Valley Central Youth Hub before Charlton Athletic home games.
The sessions aim to equip adults with the skills and knowledge to support their child’s education. They aim to improve relationships and help parents and carers to better manage their children’s behaviour.
Six-year-old Euan was at one of CACT’s after school clubs at Alderwood Primary School, one of CACT’s partner schools, when Chris, his father, saw a leaflet advertising the provision.
Chris and Euan then attended a Family Learning session ahead of Charlton’s match against Bradford City on 30 March. Euan’s friend Ellie and her mother also attended the session after becoming interested in the scheme.
Michael Lawrence, CACT’s Football & Sports Development Coach, who runs the Family Learning Provision, said:
“Euan and Ellie are some of our brilliant attendees from the Family Learning workshops this season. They fully engaged in the educational activities and went on to get brand new Charlton shirts before cheering on the team during the game.”
Chris, Euan’s father, said:
“We all had a great time. It was a good game and a good day in all.”
Euan and his family made use of match tickets they received as part of the Community 500 scheme.
