Loyal partner steps in to help support vulnerable residents

A long-time Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) partner, Andrews Sykes, has helped ensure food can reach vulnerable people in the Royal Borough of Greenwich by putting a large vehicle forward for a key collection and delivery over the Easter Weekend.

CACT is working with the Royal Borough of Greenwich and partners such as Greenwich Co-operative Development Agency (GCDA) to support vulnerable residents during the COVID-19 pandemic. Deliveries are key to ensuring that vulnerable people who need it most receive essentials at this time. And CACT partner Andrews Sykes, a specialist hire company, has offered use of a Luton van with a tail lift to deliver food boxes from Lidl in Charlton to Woolwich Common Community Centre on Easter Monday.

Jason Morgan, CACT’s Chief Executive, said:

“Andrews Sykes have been key supporters of CACT’s work in the community for many years.

“We’re extremely grateful for their support here which will make a key delivery during the Easter Weekend possible.

“It was proving to be a challenge to find appropriate transport in this period. After I contacted Paul and Andrews Sykes, they were immediately willing to assist at the key moment to help us get vulnerable local residents the food they need.”

Paul Wood, Andrews Sykes’ Managing Director, said:

“As a company with strong community links, we were very keen to assist CACT with their delivery which will provide local people with food during these challenging times.

“We have a long history of supporting the Trust and are very proud of our association with an organisation that does so much good throughout the borough and beyond.”

Delivery of a large quantity of key supplies will allow GCDA and its volunteers to deliver food parcels to vulnerable residents in the community.

Claire Pritchard, GCDA’s CEO, said:

“This support is invaluable at this time, making a huge difference, contributing to an essential supply of food to the most vulnerable people in Greenwich at this time”.
