We’re just over halfway through National Walking Month and so far have seen our way through Get Walking week, where we celebrated the various walks that we are already running in the borough, such as walks through parks and open spaces and various rambles along the Thames and a walk for those who are hearing impaired.
We celebrated Mental Health Awareness Week, kicking off with our Cruse stroll and café, supporting people through bereavement. Also in the Mental Health Awareness Week we started our various staff walks at – to encourage the staff to take time away from their desks and to promote the benefits of exercise. We also had our Celebratory walk for our ALD walk leader Mark, who received his certificate at the end of the walk. We also led a mindfulness walk from the Valley in Charlton encouraging the walkers to be more aware of their surroundings.
Living streets in conjunction with Change4life encouraged schools in the borough to take part in walk to school week throughout Week 3 of National Walking Month.
There’s still two weeks left to take part in National Walking Month – Check out the remaining walks on the Greenwich Get Active Website
