Charlton Athletic Community Trust's (CACT) Post-16 Football and Education Academy is aimed at boys and girls aged 16-19 who are interested in combining their education with the life of a professional footballer. It is a two-year, full-time education and football development programme delivered in partnership with our education provider SCL.

Over the past three seasons, the CACT Post-16 Academy students have produced a 100% pass rate across both Level 2 and Level 3 in Sport. Players have had the opportunity to trial with the CAFC Academy, exit routed into semi-professional and grass roots football and three players have headed to the USA for University in partnership with John Robinson Soccer USA.

The 2020/21 season has seen the Post 16 Academy grow to over 65 students, with four classes and four teams. We offer football opportunities for all levels of players, from elite players looking to develop towards the higher levels of the game to players who enjoy playing in a team and with their team mates. All our coaches are adaptable, professional and high quality.

CAFC Academy Partnership

For the 2021/22 season CACT and CAFC Academy are pleased to work together to offer male players previously released from professional academies or late developers from with junior grass roots the opportunity to train and play alongside the CAFC Academy scholars. This U17 squad will be coached by academy coaches within the academy facilities, with the education managed by CACT. Training will be run alongside the CAFC U18 squad with opportunities to join in with their training and play in training fixtures.

The squad will play in a competitive U19 league from September to April and then from after Easter will play showcase games against other EFL Football Academies to offer exit routes into the pro game. For more information on this opportunity please contact Michael Lawrence on
