Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) is pleased to offer schools within Royal Greenwich, Bexley, Bromley and Kent an opportunity to take up a school-specific Primary School Sport offer. Each school offer is flexible and can be designed by the school with the help of a member of the CACT Football & Sports Development team. The programme is delivered by fully qualified CACT coaches and tutors who met all OFSTED requirements. Please see all delivery options within the CACT School Sport Offer below.
Specialist Primary School Sport Delivery
Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) will provide a fully qualified coach for one day a week or two afternoons for the whole school year. Each CACT coach is qualified to a level 2 standard within his or her chosen sport and would have completed or started the AfPE Level 2 in Supporting and Delivering PE within primary schools, as requested by Ofsted. Each school can design their own timetable for their experienced coach from the potential options below:
- A school breakfast club to help develop attendance
- A lunchtime club to support behaviour and monitoring
- An after-school club to increase participation in sport or help develop talent
- An additional five hours of school sport delivery either PPA, PE Curriculum or pupil or teacher mentoring
"This is our first year working with Charlton and it has already surpassed all our expectations. The outstanding and professional work they do in our school with the children and staff has made a huge improvement in the school's relationship with sport."
SENCO, King’s Farm Primary School
Continued Professional Development
Each school who take the gold package will receive four sessions (eight hours) of professional teacher development, designed and delivered by a specialist tutor who has over 30 years of experience of teaching Physical Education.
CACT will provide the school with two six-week programmes for selected Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 classes. These programmes are designed to support the development of each pupil in their numeracy, literacy and/or health, using sport and football as a vehicle to enhance learning.
Your school will receive an invitation to a regional school football tournament to compete against schools from all over South East London and Kent. The winning school will progress to a national tournament and represent Charlton Athletic. All schools who take up one of the offers will be invited to an end of season tournament at The Valley, home of Charlton.
Collapsed Curriculum Day
CACT will deliver a Charlton Athletic takeover day within your school. This day will see the whole school “painted red” and will highlight and reward successes of the programme. The day will involve the whole school with Key Stage 1 classes getting to meet the Addicks mascots and Key Stage 2 children taking part in fun football sessions and matches and a football literacy lesson with qualified CACT coaches and staff.
The Valley experience
CACT are offering the opportunity for selected classes from your school to attend at The Valley. Classes will arrive in the morning and take part in an eduactional workshop covering areas of the football club that some pupils might be aware of like marketing, press and ticketing. From here, pupils will have an all access tour of The Valley, going pitchside, into both changing rooms and even the first-team manager's office!
Charlton Athletic extra benefits
As a school who signs up to a school sport offer you also entitled to extra benefits. Where possible we would like to have a Charlton Athletic noticeboard in your school to promote all the great sport that is happening within your school, but also each week of a CAFC home game we will put up a discount code up for all parents to book discounted tickets.
We will offer all schools a signed first-team shirt to show off to all visitors when they arrive in the school reception area.
Each pupil within your school will receive massive discounts to all CACT football programmes outside of your school including football holiday courses.
